This is actually the electrical manual for the Nissan Figaro. It contains all the wiring diagrams for the vehicle in crystal clear detail. This is of course a Japanese document but standard symbols etc are used so it's not too difficult following the diagrams. The manual also contains other handy information such as the location of relays and wiring loom routes. Presented in PDF format on CD so lots of options available such as expanding the areas of interest on the wiring diagrams. A must have for the Figaro owner!

FIGARO UK CONVERSION PARTS
There are two modifications required to legally use your Figaro in the UK:
The speedometer needs to display MPH
This can be achieved by fitting a gearbox in the speedo cable. This is an expensive and sometimes unreliable conversion - since an universal gearbox needs to be used - there isn't a Figaro specific unit available. The odometer reading is a composit of km prior to conversion and miles thereafter - a sure recipie for confusion!!
Our prefered option is to fit a recallibrated speedo face. We give you comprehensive instructions to do the job - there is no requirement to remove the speedo needle! The speedometer reads in MPH and the odometer continues to display km's so absolutely no confusion about the overall mileage covered!

A fog lamp (hazard lamp) must be fitted to the rear.
You can of course fit a separate lamp beneath the bumper. However with the low ground clearance, the lamp is prone to damage! In order to keep the original look of the car - our solution is to convert the right hand reversing light using a special red ultrabright 12 head LED. Theres no need to paint the lens red so the car keeps it's original look!
We supply a full fog lamp kit which includes the LED, wiring, illuminated switch and connectors - together with installation instructions. Complies fully with UK MOT requirements.

WON'T START IN PARKTurn the key on your Figaro and nothing happens? Sometimes just wiggling the gear change stick around will get you away but the problem will become more persistant! The cause is a worn or disintergrated plasic bush on the gear change cable. Easy to replace without special tools. We supply a new bush together with comprehensive instructions on fitting it!

OUT OF STOCKThe original glove box locks tend to fall apart so you have to wedge the glove box closed! These locks were around £12, then a few years ago Nissan superceeded the part. Large Capless Bulbs
There are several of these bulbs used on the Figaro including front indicators, high level brake lights and reversing lights. Very difficult to find in the correct wattage in the UK. Supplied in a pack of 2 bulbs

Instrument Bulbs
These 3W bulbs illuminate the speedometer and rev counter and fit the row of warning lights on the dashboard. Unfortunately they blacken or fuse with age so after 17 years it's time to see yout instruments in the dark things by fitting new bulbs. Almost impossible to find in the UK - note that these are 3 watt bulbs - UK equivalents are around half the power so will make your instruments dimmer not brighter. The UK bulbs are also smaller so have a tendency to fall out of their holders and into the instrument!
The speedometer and rev counter take a total of 5 bulbs. Sold in packs of 5 - full instructions on changing instrument bulbs with each purchase.

ENGINE SENSORS AND CONTROLS
LAMBDA SENSOR
The Lambda sensor continuously monitors oxygen levels in the exhaust which allows the engine management system to fine tune the fuel/air system in order to optimise performance and fuel efficency. Lambda sensors of this type have a life of around 30000 miles and most Figaros still have the original unit fitted!! A new sensor can pay for itself very quickly in terms of improved fuel consumption. This is a direct fit Japanese made TDK unit specifically for the Figaro - it has the correct length lead and the correct electrical connector - it's not a cheap universal unit - less than half the price of ordering from your Nissan dealer!! Comes with full fitting instructions.

COLD IDLE VALVE
When you start your Figaro from cold - it shold idle at around 1400 - 1700 RPM depending on ambient temperature. Idle speed should then gradually reduce to around 950RPM as the engine warms up. If your Figaro won't fast idle and just runs rough or stalls when cold - then most likely this cold idle valve has failed. You'll find it bolted to the rear of the alloy ECCS chamber. A common problem on the Figaro!

ENGINE MECHANICAL PARTS
HEAD GASKET SET
If you need to remove the cylinder head eg if overheating has caused the head gasket to fail - you'll need this gasket and seal set in order to replace the head. This is not a Micra K10 gasket set andorder through your Nissan dealer and it will cost you around £90.
We'll even give you all the relevant technical data including bolt torques and tightening sequence!

It's vital that the timing belt is changed every 50000miles or 5 years - many Figaros still have the original 19 year old belt just waiting to fail! If you don't know when your belt was last changed then change it now to avoid serious engine damage. ROCKER SHAFT SECURING KIT
The rocker shaft bolts on the Figaro are prone to becoming loose. It's a major problem that occurs randomly and can cause serious damage. In this picture you can see how loose bolts have fractured and caused the rocker shaft to fail. In some cases, thetapped threads in the cylinder head are badly damaged and the
problem turns into a major repair. Our securing kit, consisting of Nissan supplied parts will ensure ththe rocker shaft remains permnantly secure. Rocker box gasket and the rocker box top seals are included as are full fitting instructions. Simply a must do job on the Figaro!

Figaro steering racks are often condemed unnecessarily, and whilst we recondition steering racks - many of the common problems can infact be rectified in situ. Listed below are some of the parts available to solve common problems. Please contact us to discuss specific issues with your steering rack.
STEERING RACK GAITERS
A split or perished steering rack gaiter will result in an MOT failure and could result in rack damage in the medium term. These gaiters have a vent pipe connection so a Micra K10 or universal gaiter aren't suitable! Supplied with clips.

STEERING RACK PINION SEAL REPAIR KIT
The pinion seal is located where the steering column joins the steering rack - you can see this area if you look down the bulkhead just to the side of the brake fluid reservoir. Any sign of steering fluid leakage in this area will result in an MOT failure. Don't be persuaded that you need a reconditioned steering rack to solve this problem!! The pinion seals can be replaced with the steering rack in situ. The repair kit includes all the parts you need and comes with full instructions for completing the job!

RADIO BAND EXPANDER
Japanese radios are designed to receive a different FM waveband to the UK so a Figaro radio will only pickup a couple of UK FM stations. This is easily resolved by fitting a band expander - it's a simple job and you'll then be able to recive a wide range of UK stations. We can buy band expanders for a few pence from the Far East - they're a waste of time! We offer the best band expander available, made in the UK and with full Figaro specific fitting instructions

REPLACEMENT ROOF KIT -SORRY ROOF AND REAR PANEL OUT OF STOCK UNTIL END OF JUNE
After 19 years your Figaro roof will have shrunk, split or will generally look shabby. There are lots of roofs available but before you buy one - ask three questions
- Is it the same colour and grain pattern as the original?
- Is it manufactured from hooding fabric not upholstery type fabric?
- Does the kit contain everything you need including temperature resistant adhesive, full instructions and a CD showing step by step pictures of an actual installation?

REPLACEMENT REAR PANEL COVER KIT
The vinyl on the rear window surround does deteriorate and it's quite a straighforward job to replace it. At the same time you can treat any rust bubbles under the vinyl - well worth doing since a new panel is around £600. The kit contains everything you need including adhesive and full instructions and the finish matches the original in terms of colour and grain pattern.
